How to stop cross-posting comments/entries

In case you hadn't seen it LJ have put in a new feature that allows you (or others) to cross-post entries comment to Twitter and/or Facebook.

A lot of people are very annoyed about this, given there isn't an opt-in or opt-out feature at the moment, and are concerned that stuff they don't want shared will be shared by people. Maybe I'm naive but I never for a moment would think anyone on my flist would share anything of mine without at least asking, and I certainly wouldn't dream of doing so to anyone else.

Equally so I know that some people really like the feature and feel it'll make life much easier for them.

I think the biggest issue isn't the feature, but the fact that it's there whether you want it or not. I do hope LJ put in a fix and make in an opt-in or opt-out and better still have it so that you personally can cross-post your own stuff, but you can opt-out of others doing so. As much as I love LJ, and I do, sometimes their way of doing things is mind-boggling.

Anyway, someone has come up with a fix to disable this feature and it's really simple to do.

1. Go to your "Journal" menu, and select "Journal Style".
2. To the right, you'll see what theme you're using, with a link stating "Customize Your Theme". Click that link.
3. Scroll down a little ways, and you'll see that on the left side of your screen, you have multiple options to modify your theme. Click on the "Custom CSS" link, and it should load the options for doing Custom CSS.
4. From here, all you have to do is go to the "Custom Stylesheet", and put in the following line.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

5. Once you have it pasted in there, save changes.
6. Feel free to share this with your flist.

I understand the above isn't working for some people. I'm afraid I don't know who came up with the fix in the first place and I know nothing about CSS, so I can't be of any assistance.

However, I've seen on my flist a longer version of a fix, which may work if the above doesn't.

The first steps are the same, but rather than just copy and paste the single line copy and paste this:

/* ---FB-Twitter Comment Ticky Fix--- */
.b-repost-items, .b-repost-item, .b-repost-item IMG, #entry-form-wrapper .b-repost-item, b-repost-item-fb {
display: none;

.b-repost-item .repost_disabled {
color: #CCC;
display: none;
