Ideal Zines

I spent some time yesterday afternoon ensuring that all my zines were in folders and the flaps were tucked inside. During this I was thinking about what constituted my ideal zine.

My ideal single fandom zine would be a long slash novel.

My first choice of contents would be for a committed, established relationship story where all the conflict took place outside of the partnership/relationship, i.e. there was no trouble between the pairing.

My second choice would be for a first time story where they get together within the first quarter of the story and once again all of the conflict/trouble is external to their own relationship.

It would not need to be 'on-screen' sex heavy. However, the love, affection, caring and togetherness should be apparent from the first page and shown by looks, touches, kisses and endearments.

A Napoleon/Illya, Bodie/Doyle or Benny/Ray V novel as described would make me very, very happy. Actually, what would make me even happier was a novel in each fandom :-)

My ideal multi fandom zine would be all slash and would contain the following:

Long stories from:
  • The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (Napoleon/Illya)

  • The Professionals (Bodie/Doyle)

  • Due South (Fraser/Vecchio)
And for some less emotional involvement, shorter stories from:
  • Starsky and Hutch (Starsky/Hutch)

  • The Sandbaggers (Neil/Willy)

  • Sapphire and Steel (Steel/Silver)

  • M.A.S.H. (Hawkeye/BJ)

  • Company Business (Sam/Pyiotr)

Of course it goes without saying (or maybe it doesn't) that all of the stories should have happy endings, and if I had an utter choice, they would all - or at least most - be established relationship stories with external conflict or first timers without too much angst between the pairings.
