He told her it was the most important meal of the day.

She told him she hadn't got time for breakfast. Gibbs would be waiting for the test results.

He told her Gibbs could wait. He wasn't allowing his wife, his four months pregnant wife, to go to work without breakfast.

She told him Gibbs'd be angry.

He told her he didn't care. She was important; Gibbs's anger wasn't.

She told him how caring he was.

They were even later than he'd thought they'd be.

Gibbs scowled at them when they arrived. But Tim could see he was really smiling.

She sat in her lab looking around at all the presents her coworkers, her family, had bought her.

There amongst the black roses, the black stuffed toys, the silver jewelry, sat a cupcake with a candle in it. It was small but perfectly formed.

She'd told Tim the night before she didn’t want a cake.

He hadn't believed her.

She was pleased he hadn't.

He was coming back down soon to see her.

They would light the candle then.

She could blow it out.

And she would wish.

She would wish for a lifetime of love and happiness with Tim.
