Nature: Footprints

Some sad news

I've been away from LJ for some time due to a nasty bug/virus that has dragged on and one and left me feeling really run down and lacking in energy and the inclination to do anything really. Corresponding or even reading LJ, etc. has been rather too much of an effort. I've posted some NCIS Drabble prompts but that's all.

I kept saying 'I will go back and catch up with my friends on LJ' as I have missed you. And finally I've had the push to return, albeit not in the way I would have liked to.

Some of you may already know this news, but for those who don't I wanted to let people know.

I know many of you knew Bast (whether it be in person and/or online) or at least knew of her as a writer, a publisher, an editor, a friend - or in any other capacity. Yesterday, I learnt that after a fight with Covid which put her into ICU and on life support she has died. She gave so much to fandom in so many ways, nothing was too much trouble for her; she gave and never expected anything in return. Despite her many challenges health-wise in particular she was always there for anyone.

She really will be missed. She was a lovely person and I can honestly say without her support and encouragement in so many ways, I would never have written anywhere near as much as I did write and wouldn't have had stories published in zines. And it wasn't just writing she helped with, she was a very good friend and we had lots of email conversations over the years I have known her. I know there are many other people who would say the same. She touched so many people in so many ways.

From what I have heard via her closest friend, her family are following Bast's own wishes and there will be no service.

RIP Bast, I will miss you.
