Teddy: Stethoscope

Wimbledon 2015 Day 03

There were no major upsets on the men's side of the draw yesterday. Rafa, Andy and Roger all came through pretty easily all in straight sets. Tsonga took his time and finally got through in a really tight match in five sets.

Rafa played pretty well, I thought, at times he was his old self 'oh, look a line, let me hit it' and really confident and hitting the most amazing shots. However, at times he was the Rafa of this year, lacking in confidence and missing shots he normally makes in his sleep. However, his break point conversion rate and consolidation rate were much better. I actually enjoyed his match and wasn't constantly on the edge of my seat; ditto for Andy.

Two pretty highly ranked ladies went out: Simon Halep and Eugenie Bouchard. The former was definitely a surprise, the latter given her form this year not such a surprise. Otherwise there were no major upsets.

Seven Brits played yesterday (one was a match held over from Monday) and we ended the day with four of the seven having won their way through to round two; which was pretty good, in fact very good.

Today is the first day of the second round and once again Novak, Stan and a couple of the younger chaps I'm following, plus a couple of Brits are playing - so hopefully it will be another good tennis day.
