I have such fun doing thirty days memes that I decided to create another  NCIS one. Please feel free to snaggle it should you wish to.

Day #02 - Favourite season premier

The very first premier of all: 'Yankee White'.

To me the show hit the ground running with 'Yankee White'. I've seen a lot of opening episodes (I'm putting aside here the double JAG crossover episode as quite a bit changed from that - including how long Gibbs had been in NCIS as well as characters, etc.) and I can honestly say I have never seen a show start with a better episode than 'Yankee White'.

It was first-rate. For a start I really did get the impression that Gibbs, Ducky, Abby and Tony had worked together for some time and knew one another well and were friends as well as colleagues. There was no awkwardness between them. The case was really interesting and attention holding. I enjoyed how Kate was worked into the episode and ended up being offered a job. I loved Fornell (even if I never for a second bought the 'we're two senior Federal Agents and we don't know one another) and even if not long afterwards the whole 'we don't know one another' was forgotten/ignored and suddenly Gibbs and Fornell became friends. I can hand-wave that and put it down to TPTB hadn't expected MH and JS to spark so well together. And there were some excellent Gibbs/Ducky moments - even if when I first watched 'Yankee White' I wasn't actively shipping them (or anyone).

'Yankee White' laid the groundwork for what was to follow. We've had some good premiers since then, but for me personally none have come close to touching 'Yankee White'.
