Wimbledon Days 02 & 03

Again on the men's side there were no huge surprises yesterday, Federer, Djokovic, Roddick and Soderling all came through safely. All British men who played yesterday went out, thus leaving Murray as the sole British man left in the singles.

On the ladies side, two British women are through to the second round (it would sound quite impressive, but given there had to be one as two British ladies played one another, it wasn't quite as good as it could have been). But nonetheless kudos to  Elena Baltacha and Anne Keothavong for getting through to the second round.

I saw Serena Williams match yesterday - I still can't quite fathom out why I watched it *g* - and as much as I don't care for her, I was nonetheless sorry to see her looking so under par. She won in three sets, but she was jolly lucky her opponent is known for going 'for a wander' mentally during the match. She played great tennis at times, but at other times she was clearly out-played.

Sadly on the ladies side  Jelena Jankovic crashed out, but Caroline Wozniacki and Li Na at least both came through.

Isner and Mahut didn't get even close to repeating their match of last year, as Isner won in straight sets - an anti-climax I'm sure for many who had built the match up and/or were expecting more.

Today Rafa, Murray and Roddick take to the courts again for their second round matches. Wimbledon have scheduled Rafa and Murray to play second match Rafa on Centre, Murray on Court One *sighs*.

Rafa plays after a ladies match, Murray after a men's so I'm hoping the ladies match gets wrapped up in quick time and the men's match drags on - that way I can see them both. Hey, I can hope, can't I? Of course that's assuming the weather is as good as it was yesterday and there is play on more than just the Centre Court.

Two more British ladies ( Heather Watson and Laura Robson) play their first round matches today.

Thirty Days NCIS Meme. Day #22 - The Saddest Character Death

I saw this quite some time ago on dinozzoitis's journal and finally got around to doing it.

Day 22 – Saddest character death

There have been several characters whose death for one reason or another touched me, even if we only saw them in one episode.

However, for this question (as with the least favourite character) question I felt it was 'right' to go with a main character, someone whom I got to know, hence the 'saddest'. And the death of the person I have chosen really as a sad death.

My choice:

Caitlin Todd.

Kate wasn't my overall favourite character, but I really did love her. I thought she was an extremely well written female character, well balanced, feisty, attractive, intelligent, feminine without being overly girly.

She was a woman in a man's world, but she wasn't afraid to be a woman, yes, as she told Gibbs when she first met him like certain species of frogs she grew what she needed, but she was still very feminine. She was also excellent at standing up to Tony and giving as good as she got from him, their sibling banter was excellent. I loved the scene when she and Tony go to see Ducky to 'mediate' and Ducky refers to 'trying to please father' and at that point Gibbs arrives.

I knew, before I saw the episode, that Kate as going to die in 'Twilight', but I still cried when she died and have done so every time I've the episode. And it wasn't just a sad death for viewers, it was a sad death for the team. Kate's death touched Gibbs, Ducky, Tony, Tim, Jimmy and most of all Abby who was so very close to Kate.

She was a great character and as much as I love Ziva now I still miss Kate. Her death was a very sad death.
