Month-long TV Meme - Day #28 - First TV show obsession.

When nicis_anatomy started to post this meme last month, I promised her that I would do it in June. So I am keeping my promise. From seeing Nici's posts last month, I know several of my answers will be the same as hers.

Day 28 - First TV show obsession.

A really easy one. It was Starsky & Hutch.

My obsession with this show goes back more than three decades to 1976 when it was aired on UK television. We used to watch it every Saturday night as a family (Mother, Father, Grandma and me) and I was hooked on it.

I didn't just love the show and watch it, I bought the monthly magazines (I never did find out what happened to them after I left my parents home, and I had the whole set) and other magazines that had articles, pictures, posters of them. And I had posters on my bedroom wall - a rare thing for me, make that a very rare thing for me. We used to 'play' Hutch's jump onto his car before/after gym lessons and it was a show to which I looked forward every week.

I loved both Starsky and Hutch, but my favourite was Hutch, as well as Captain Dobey and Huggy Bear. The story-lines were enjoyable, the characters excellent, it was good, all round entertainment and it's a show that I feel has well stood the test of time and can still be enjoyed today. The only 'warning' I'd put on that is to say remember when it was set. It was set in an era before PCness took over and yes, there is a fair bit of sexism in it. But you can't apply today's standards back then.

It was a really excellent example of the buddy cop show.

It also some twenty-three years later became my first fandom, but more on that when I do another thirty days meme.
