Teddy: Tatty (Sewing)

It's finished!!!

As some of you (waves to aingeal8c, adriannacoylho & ashley_pitt - hmmmm, all 'A's) know I have been recreating my entire website (yes all c. 1,000 pages).

Why you may ask. Well . . . A month or so ago I (thanks to our lovely neighbour) upgraded my Office package from 2000 to 2003. What I hadn't really appreciated was how vast an 'upgrade' (in fact it was pretty much a re-write) FrontPage was. And lo and behold for some reason best know to MS themselves, FP2003 and FP2000 weren't quite compatible with one another.

To cut a long and boring story of my woes short, I decided (encourage by J) that it would actually be easier in the long run and make me happier from an aesthetics point of view, if I recreated the entire site in FP2003. Thus I have spent the last few weeks doing that very thing. I also took the opportunity to tidy the construction up and put in a proper folder structure, which I hadn't had before.

Finally today I did the last bits and have it safely uploaded. It's taken quite a while, but I'm chuffed with myself for doing it and also because during the whole process I have learnt a lot more about websites, source code and where to look/what to do if something isn't working/has gone wrong. When I initially put my website together a couple of years ago it was something I had never done before, and it was fairly hit and miss insofar as because I was used to MS Office I could use FP, but not really with the understanding that I have now, nor really beyond simply creating pages and putting links in. But now I feel I have a greater knowledge; so it has been good and I'm happy.

I doubt anyone will really notice any difference in it as basically everything is the same from a user point of view. However, if anyone by any remote chance does have any of my stories/essays/episode reviews bookmarked they will no longer work, due to the over-hauled folder system.

I haven't checked every single link on every single page, but have checked for broken links in FP and have gone through over 400 pages of stories, so I shall be doing some clicking over the next few days or so.

I swear if I see another hyper-link in the next couple of days I shall scream :-)
