Yet another Friday five on a Saturday
1. When was the last time you wrote a cheque at a store?

Goodness me. Um. Well at least ten years ago because the only cheque stubs in my chequebook are for the Avon lady and our neighbour for computer stuff. However, it's longer ago than that. Fifteen years, even twenty?

2. When was the last time you looked up something in a book?

Does asking J to look up something in a dictionary for me, as the book's big and it's easier for him to handle than me trying to balance a book and crutches or go through the rigmarole of putting them down count? If so then a couple of days ago.

3. When was the last time you used a dial phone?

An actual dial phone? Um, twenty-nine years ago when I left my parents home. Since then our landline phones have all been push button.

4. When was the last time you played cards with actual paper cards?

Um. Again, it's got to be at least ten years ago.

5. When was the last time you talked to a stranger?

Ah, now that's easier. On Thursday as we went out to lunch with my parents and I spoke to the waitress who was one we had never seen before.

Current Mood: blah blah

I still use my checkbook all the time to pay bills and cut checks every day at work. It's amazing how few people use them anymore. They used to be 'the thing' and you could even get tons of designs. Now, even the banks want to do away with them.

A lot of people said the same thing about the phones. It's been a crazy long time for most. I think we still have one in the bedroom for power emergencies (it doesn't require electricity to run).

I imagine a lot of small and even medium sized businesses use cheque-books still for paying bills. I know they did. The butchers in our tiny nearest town doesn't take credit cards, so J pays him by cheque or cash, depending on what we're getting.

We still have a 'real' phone in our kitchen for the same reason, but it's not a dial phone, it's a push button one.

Cheques? Cheques?? Good grief. I don't think I ever paid for in anything in a shop with one, I pretty much only ever used them to pay credit card bills. And I've not written one for probably 10 years now, not even sure I still have one tbh... Even the small indy shops I know either take cards over a certain amount or cash only.

You should never talk to strangers *nods*

They are dying out. I think my last cheque book lasted me ten years *g* I don't buy that much from the Avon lady or D1 *g*

That is sound advice *Nods*
