I correctly called both winners and that Petra Kvitova's match would be in straight sets. My only incorrect call was that the second ladies' semi would go to three sets, whereas it was over in two. The runner up injured her ankle very early on in the match and it certainly seemed to have an impact on her movement - whether that was a factor though or not, I couldn't say.
So today beings up men's semi finals and it's being called as 'the old guard' vs. 'the new guard' - which in terms of years on the tour, experience and age (in tennis terms) is true.
What I would like to see happen and what I think will happen are polar opposites. I would like Grigor Dimitrov and Milos Raonic to win (both are the new guard). However, I predict that in reality Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer will both win through.
What I really don't want to see if one of the 'new guard' and one of the 'old guard' get through because I think that will lead to a very one-sided final. Having said that, I'm not the sure the 'youth of today' have the same nerves as the 'youth of yesterday' had; certainly that didn't seem to be a factor in the semis here or in the French Open - but a final is somewhat different.
So my predictions are for both matches to go the distance or at least be four sets and for Djokovic and Federer to prevail.
