As we have recently embarked on yet another re-watch of Buffy, I thought it would be a good time to do this meme.
Day #17: Character you relate to the most
Day #18: Character who didn’t get enough screen time
Day #19: Character you like that everyone else hates
Day #20: Best Spike-centric episode
Day #21: Best Willow-centric episode
Day #22: Best Xander-centric episode
Day #23: Two characters you wanted to get together that never did
Day #24: Favourite example of 90s special effects
Day #25: Favourite Buffyverse saying
Day #26: Favourite Scooby moment
Day #27: Cutest moment
Day #28: Character you love to hate
Day #29: Episode you hate that everyone else loves
Day #30: What you think made Buffy so great
Day #16: Favourite piece of monologue
Today's question should have been: Episode you like that everyone else hates. However, since I have zero idea of what episodes are popular and not popular in Buffy fandom, I decided to take the liberty and change the question (I shall do the same for Day #29).
As I chose the question *g* my answer is very easy. I suspect to really appreciate the full humour of this little snippet of monologue you actually have to be British, as it's Giles who says it and he is more than a little sparky abut Americans.
It's from the Season Three episode 'Dead Man's Party' when Giles realises just what the mask Joyce has up in her house is. He's in his car on his way to the Summers' house to warn them - and of course in true Buffy fashion, it's not just a case of warning Buffy and Joyce or even the Summers' females and the Scoobies, because there is a full in flow party going on.
And this is what Giles says:
Unbelievable. (mocks Joyce) 'Do you like my mask? Isn't it pretty? It raises the dead!' Americans.
His tone and the look on his face is perfectly priceless and so very, very Giles.
