Day #08: Favourite friendship

This is another easy one:

Buffy & Willow - they are my two favourite female characters and I really love their friendship. It's one of the pivotal relationships of the series.

I like how it begins, how it grows, how it changes but how despite everything they are always there for one another. They are always best friends and even though it would be easy to say that it isn't an equal friendship because Buffy's the slayer and Willow is . . . Willow, it is for me very equal. They both bring important things to the friendship.

There is genuine affection between them and neither of them would be the person they ultimately end up being without the other. They need one another, possibly more than either of them actually realise.

I like in the earlier seasons how Willow feels insecure at times, especially where Faith is concerned, and how she feels she might be losing Buffy's friendship and it's a sign of how close their friendship is that she is able to ultimately articulate this and tell Buffy. I love how despite the slaying and demon research, etc. they do they are also normal teenage girls who giggle about boys and share things with one another they wouldn't share with anyone else.

It's a really good example of a very close, female friendship with give and take on both sides.
