None. That's not how I watch.

If I'm watching an episode, I'm watching an episode.

I don't fast-forward though parts nor do I go back to re-watch a scene. The only time I ever fast-forward or re-watch a scene is if I am doing a specific piece of research.

o.O Next you'll be telling me you watch the credits of every ep you watch... *g*

I've not ffw'd through any Pro's eps actually so far on my 2nd watching but once I know the show a little better I will likely do so. I regularly ffw through old NCIS eps and pretty much every other show I've watched multiple times. Not sure which one of us is weirder *g*

Nope, I don't watch credits - rest assured on that point.

Why do you ff through things? Why watch if you're going to ff? It has always puzzled me. Well given most people in fandom do the ff thing, you aren't alone.

However, personally I think anyone who does ff (unless researching) is weird *g* So that makes me non-weird *Beams happily*

I'll let you off on that point then *g*

Because I know the ep and much as I might love a show I don't necessarily love every part of every ep. TWW for instance I often reach for the ff when Mandy launches into a scene, if I were to re-watch Truth & Consequences I'd watch the flashback scenes & not the Somalia scenes, S3 NCIS I'd skip the Paris flashbacks etc etc

No, I do believe you're the weirdo *nods*

Thank you.

I don't love every part of an episode (just as I don't love every part of a book) but if I watch I want to watch (ditto read). I don't see any point otherwise of just watching bits. I'd rather watch something totally different.

Nope, I'm definitely not weird - at least not in this respect *Nods sagely*

I think I'm the opposite. I can watch again and again the scene I've already mentioned from DIAG when Bodie's chasing after Doyle's assassin. And I'm sure my favourite scenes/films have a lot to do with the music which goes with them.

But why?

No offence at all (as I'm sure you know. But this is something I know a lot of people do, ditto with ff through episodes. But I have never understood it. Surely if you're watching something you are watching it? I can understand fully going back to check something, but doesn't it interrupt the flow of your watching if you keep going back?

But why?

I think there are lots of possible answers here and it's probably all of them. One of them is the obvious pleasure to be gained in doing something enjoyable again and again, much like eating a pack of Rolos - you like one then you want another, than another and so it's the same with a favourite scene or playing a favourite piece of music repeatedly, or rereading a favourite passsage from a story because you like it enough to want to repeat the experience; if I've watched the whole episode many times before then possibly I'll start watching it in a different way and within any one episode some scenes are not as rewatchable as others so the fast forward can avoid the boring bits; also it might depend on how often you've watched an episode, for me it's dozens of times and after so many viewings watching the whole episode/plot again isn't going to reveal any surprises. But having said all that, on reflection I'm not sure I do watch one scene repeatedly, instead probably looking up from my laptop to watch a scene that I love and then losing concentration for the less interesting bits.

Phew......

Interesting. I'm afraid (apart from the Rolo bit) I can't relate to any of this - and if I'm honest I don't get it either. To me if I'm watching something or reading something then want to do so from beginning to end - there doesn't seem any point otherwise.

I guess we all watch in different ways.

Thank you for explaining how it works for you.
