Day 27 – Episode you shed the most tears in

I've shed tears in a few NCIS episodes over a single moment or scene - there have been some incredibly moving and poignant scenes.

However, the episode in which I shed the most tears is:

I started crying during the bus scene where Michelle basically 'told' Gibbs to shoot Bankston through her. Gibbs didn't want to do it and at first refused, but Michelle insisted. He had to do it, he was woozy, his vision was blurred, he could barely stay on his feet - there was no other way he could have taken Bankston down. So he did what Michelle told him to do - it was probably one of the hardest things he's ever had to do, even though he would have known it was all over for Michelle anyway. No matter what happened her life, her freedom would be over.

What made it even more poignant was the fact that she was still alive for a fraction of a second after he got to her before she dies. And Gibbs took her badge.

I was still crying throughout the scene in Vance's office when Gibbs is still clearly upset by what he had to do, even though he knew what he did was right, was the only thing he could have done. Vance pointing out it was for the best as Michelle was facing a life sentence or even worse for double murder and treason and she'd never see her sister again just made it all the more poignant. As did his question to Gibbs about 'hero or villain and Gibbs's reply of 'both'.

And I was still crying throughout the squad room scene when Gibbs takes Michelle's sister over to the window after Amanda has asked for her and gives her Michelle's badge - and uses Amanda's pet name for her.

Even now writing this, my throat is tight and my eyes are prickling.

It's all the more poignant that I've gone for this episode because I never was a huge Michelle fan. I really hated the arc with her and Jimmy because I just didn't buy that at all that they'd have sex at work all the time, especially when they both had homes. Okay, so we learnt in this episode why Jimmy couldn't go to her home, and I suppose she couldn't go to his because she needed to get home for Amanda but even so. I took to her more before and after the affair.

So for the episode to touch me so much and make me cry so much really does show what a superb and moving episode it was.
